About Record Clear Map
Record Clear Map is a free, plain-English guide for people in the United States who have an arrest or conviction record in a state court and want to know whether and how they can clear it: what their state calls it (expungement, sealing, set-aside, nondisclosure and more), which records qualify, how long they must wait, whether the state clears some records automatically, how to file, what it costs and where to find free legal help. Free tools add a waiting period to your date and write a letter asking for a copy of your own record and a checklist, in your browser.
We are not a law firm, not a court and not a government agency. We don't represent anyone, we don't file petitions and we never contact courts, prosecutors or agencies for you. We never tell anyone that they qualify: the court decides. We link to official sources: state law, state courts and their self-help pages, state criminal history repositories, pardon boards and legal aid.
